Wonderful historical story. Falling back to 1828 and reading how their lives were so different is quite a ride. Lucas and Naomi had met before and he was her husbands neighbor while growing up and close friends. Then when Lucas shows up with the news of the loss of war, he plans on delivering the news and going home. But he can't leave her alone to deal with everything. With society rules being alone together is wrong, but neither of them can find a reason or a way to stop it.
